We’re delighted to officially announce that we’ll be joining the Liverpool & District Cricket Competition for the 2023 Season. After a 22 year stay in the Cheshire Cricket Leagues, we’ll be drawing our time there to a close at the end of the season and are excited for the start of the next chapter in the club’s rich history.
Irby has historical links to the Liverpool and Merseyside cricket community, last playing 1st XI cricket in the Merseyside Comp in 1999.
The opportunity to join a well-established and respected ECB Premier League set up is a fantastic opportunity for the club and we’re hugely grateful to the 35 current member clubs of the LDCC who voted unanimously for us to join them from next year. We’re incredibly excited to welcome you all to Mill Hill Road over the coming years.
Our move to the LDCC offers a number of fantastic opportunities to the club. The appeal of joining a well organised and established league structure, with strong links to Lancashire CCC, offers us new challenges and opportunities at all levels. The LDCC provides the quality, excitement and tradition that timed Win/Lose/Draw cricket offers and that our members and committee wanted to see return to the fields of Mill Hill Road.
We are incredibly excited to start our journey with the LDCC and are looking forward to a long, successful and enjoyable period ahead.
For those cricketers looking for new and exciting opportunities, we are already recruiting for the new season across all of our senior sides, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Finally, we’d like to say thank you to all of the wonderful clubs in the Cheshire set up who have made us very welcome over the last 22 years. You’ll always be warmly welcomed back at Mill Hill Road.
Here’s to the next chapter… The future is looking bright!
